The short version
The questionnaire you fill out — your business details, the data types you collect, and the activities you perform — is processed locally in your browser using JavaScript and is never transmitted to us, stored in a database, or shared with any third party. We don't have an account system, and we don't know who you are.
There is a backend — but only for the law database
We maintain a database of the statutes and bills this site references (citations, thresholds, effective dates) so we can keep it current and publish it as browsable pages like the ones under /states/ and /laws/. That database holds only this public reference content — never anything about you or your business. Your questionnaire answers are combined with that reference data entirely inside your browser; they're never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
What we don't collect
- We don't collect or store your questionnaire answers, business information, or results.
- We don't use cookies, local storage, or session identifiers to track you.
- We don't run analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers on this site.
- We don't require an account, email address, or any personal information to use the tool.
What our hosting provider sees
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like virtually any web host, Vercel's infrastructure processes standard connection metadata to serve you the page and keep the service secure and reliable — things like your IP address, browser/user-agent string, the pages requested, and timestamps. This happens automatically at the infrastructure level for every website; we don't have visibility into it beyond aggregate, anonymized traffic statistics, and we don't use it to identify or track individual visitors. See Vercel's privacy policy for details on their infrastructure-level data handling.
PDF exports
The "Export as PDF" feature uses your browser's built-in print-to-PDF function. The PDF is generated and saved entirely on your device — we never see or receive a copy of it.
Children's privacy
This tool is intended for business and legal-research use and is not directed at children. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone who uses the site, we don't knowingly collect information from children either.
Changes to this policy
If how this site handles data ever changes — for example, if we add analytics or a way to save your results — we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
