Terms of Service

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using USPrivacyAtlas (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Not legal advice

The Service is an educational tool that provides general information about US state privacy and data-security statutes based on publicly available, well-known statutory thresholds. It is not legal advice, does not create an attorney-client relationship, and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney familiar with your specific facts. State legislatures amend, repeal, and enact privacy laws frequently, and the Service may not reflect the most current state of the law. You are solely responsible for verifying any result before relying on it for a compliance decision.

No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information it provides is current or correct.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service — including any compliance decision made in reliance on it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or systematically extract the underlying dataset to build a competing commercial product without our permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Misrepresent the Service's output as a substitute for a formal legal opinion to a third party.

Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, text, underlying dataset, and code, is our property or that of our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our name, branding, or trademarks.

Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Service operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
